Team Eastern Door and the North (EDN) is the name of the team representing Quebec First Nations and Inuit in various national sporting competitions, including the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC) and the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG).
First held in 1990, the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) were the realization ofa dream that had been cherished for over twenty years. Over time, they have become the largest gathering dedicated to Indigenous sports and cultures in North America.
Bringing together communities from across Canada and the United States, the NAIG offer athletes the opportunity to compete in more than 15 sports while celebrating the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures.
In 2002, the Aboriginal Sport Circle established the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC),creating the premier competition for male and female Indigenous hockey players aged 14 to 18. The event attracts participants from all 13 provinces and territories, and helps foster cultural unity and pride while also celebrating the athletic abilities of Indigenous youth from across the country.
The next edition of the NAHC will be held from May 2 to 8, 2027, in Membertou, Nova Scotia.
