Coaches
Head coaches, assistant coaches and managers are appointed by the FNQLHSSC, which is responsible for coordinating team EDN. They serve on a voluntary basis, unless their employer decides otherwise.*

Head coaches
Head coaches are responsible for coordinating the activities of their designated sport. They lead their team, ensuring the selection and physical and mental preparation of those under their responsibility. They make every effort to foster a secure environment in which all team members are treated fairly and respectfully. They help organize the NAIG by handling necessary administrative duties to manage their teams and athletes efficiently.
Assistant coaches
Assistant coaches are responsible for supporting the head coaches in coordinating the activities of their designated sport.
Managers
Managers provide support to the team of coaches in coordinating the activities of the team for which they are selected. Managers perform the administrative tasks involved in the athletes’ registration and participation.
Mission staff
The Chef de Mission is responsible for leading team EDN and providing the main line of communication between the team and Host Society.
For the NAIG 2023, Médérik Sioui, from the Abitibiwinni First Nation (Wendat origin), has enthusiastically accepted to take on the role of Chef de Mission. Médérik has been the Communications Manager at the FNQLHSSC since 2018. He holds a master’s degree in history and taught history to First Nations youth for seven years at Kiuna College, where he was deeply involved with the youth by leading supervised study sessions and organizing traditional activities. As a new addition to the mission team, he is looking forward to this new challenge.
Mission staff assists the Chef de Mission in managing team EDN by ensuring compliance with team rules and values and supporting team members in every and any situation that may arise during the NAIG. In addition to an elder, mission staff includes people responsible for medical, sport, accreditation, safety, logistics, communications and cultural services.
